Booking is extremely time-consuming and touring can be very costly if you aren't careful. Successful touring takes more than just booking the performance and showing up to play. Our panelist bring some amazing experience and insight on the topic. Theres the club perspective - what do they expect from you if they book you in their club? Theres the booking agent perspective - what do they expect from you if they book you in a club and what can you expect from a booking agent? And, finally, thoughts from a touring musician on what it takes to book a successful tour. There will be information for everyone from seasoned musicians to those of you just starting to wander outside the Twin Cities metro area. The meeting will take place in the Clown Lounge and is open to the public. Come meet the Board of Directors, hear plans for the upcoming year and have a say in how the MMA can best serve the Minnesota music community. Immediately following the meeting, the MMA is hosting a showcase in the main room featuring: Big Ditch Road Luke Zimmerman Stockcar Named Desire Jonathan Rundman Music starts at 9pm/ $5 cover for non-MMA members Tuesday, January 17, 2006 Meeting at 7pm Music at 9pm Turf Club 1601 University Avenue St. Paul, MN Requirements for open board positions. 13-Jan-06 The Minnesota Music Academy is a non-profit organization that operates year-round, with board meetings occurring the 3rd Tuesday of every Monday at 6:30pm. The following is a list of qualifications and skills desired for the three open board positions. General Requirements: - Availability to attend monthly board meetings the 3rd Tuesday of each month - Availability to plan and attend committee meetings - Knowledge of Minnesota music, venues, companies and the like - Previous experience with non-profit organizations and/or business experience - Availability to commit to educational seminar meetings held the 2nd Wednesday of each month - Ability to commit to extensive involvement in the planning and execution of the yearly Minnesota Music Awards - Ability to commit to 10+ hours per month on MMA related work Specific Skills Desired for Board Positions: - Marketing/Publicity/Public Relations - Fundraising/Grant Writing - Graphic Design - Event Planning - Accounting/Book-Keeping - Administration/Internal Communications
